Using metal in DIY is a task that is a bit challenging particularly when you have to decorate your walls. You might not be familiar with metal crafts and artwork but DIY crafts never go out of fashion. Currently, wall hangings are in trend and they’ll look quite adorable on your walls.
This article can help you create your own DIY metal wall hanging with some materials. Now let’s start your DIY tutorial.
Create a Metal Mobile Wall Hanging
This DIY is especially for beginners who prefer metal over other materials. At the onset, you have to identify your preferred shapes for a wall hanging. You can collect various shapes such as wooden dowels, driftwood, and the like. You have to paint the driftwood or wooden dowel with an aqua color. Lay all the pieces on a table and see how they look. Arrange all the metal shapes appropriately according to your design.
Now, you have to use wire cutters to cut copper tubes into 3.15” pieces. You have to bend them into V shapes. Then you should create a quick sketch of your wall hanging. Next, attach rings and large moon shapes with the glue gun. Allow the copper rings to dry and then dab glue on the back of every piece. Make sure the shapes don’t stick the surface. Then you can attach the copper wire with a paintbrush.
Create A Metal Animal Mask
You should start searching for a basic sketch of animals and reproduce it on a piece of paper. Once you have created the design, measure the length of every line. To practice, you can start with plastic straws rather than metal tubes. Initially, you’ll need a ruler to measure the lengths of the actual tubes. Then you have to keep the tube inside the tube cutter and twist the knob. Keep twisting the tubes with the tube cutter. Then you should line up each copper tube on blank paper. Next, take the brass wire and start threading it through every tube.
If you run out of the brass wire, just attach another piece by twisting two ends together. In other words, you have to attach all the tubes to create the outline of the face. Don’t worry if the design is not according to the sketch. A similar design that followed the sketch should work.
Once the metal is dry, you can hang it on your wall. You can make different forms of animals through this method. However, creating complicated designs can be a bit challenging. This DIY is pretty simple, and it would hardly take 30 minutes to complete. With just a handful of cut shapes and metal tubes, you can easily make awesome yet artful DIY metal wall hangings. However, since these wall hangings are delicate, keep them away from children.
